Big Flat Men Facing Aggravated Assault Charges

By KSPR News

Two Big Flat, Arkansas men are facing aggravated assault charges following a weekend disturbance.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a Saturday night call about a disturbance and shots had been fired at or in the direction of a home.

Deputies say the victim told them David Sutterfield came to her residence, became violent and made threats before leaving.

The victim says Sutterfield returned with his father, Norman, carrying a rifle or shotgun. She told deputies she heard four shots and thinks at least three were fired in the direction of her residence. Both Sutterfields then left the area.

Deputies went to the Sutterfield residence at 300 Spring Creek Rd. in Big Flat to arrest David and Norman Sutterfield. Deputies say Norman Sutterfield came outside carrying a shotgun and put it down after repeated commands, but then went back inside the residence.

Deputies convinced Norman Sutterfield and David Sutterfield to surrender. Both were arrested and transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and charged as follows:

Norman K. Sutterfield, 69, is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest.

David K. Sutterfield, 44, is charged with aggravated assault and public intoxication.

Both were released after posting $10,000 bond each. Both are scheduled tol appear in the Baxter County Circuit Court January 22, 2009.
