Megan Meier's mom talks about MySpace trial verdict

By Kyle Bosch

NEW YORK (AP) - The mother of a Missouri teenager who killed herself after an Internet hoax says the woman convicted on misdemeanor charges in the case knew what was going on and allowed it to happen.

Tina Meier told NBC's "Today" show that she was disappointed that Lori Drew, her suburban St. Louis neighbor, was not found guilty on the more serious felony conspiracy charge connected with the hoax.

It involved creating a fictional boy on MySpace who claimed to take an interest in 13-year-old Megan Meier. The "boy" dumped Megan in 2006, telling her: "The world would be a better place without you." Megan hanged herself.

The forewoman of the jury at Drew's trial told "Today" that she didn't believe Drew expected Megan to kill herself, but that she showed poor judgment.
