Help Springfield Public Libraries Send Books to Troops

By KSPR News

The Springfield-Greene County Library is opening a brand new branch... in Iraq.

It's not really a brand new library, but the workers in the district are trying to help our troops by giving them something to read.

The idea came from a library employee because her friend was serving overseas.

The district has collected several paperbacks to send over to help troops during their down-time.

"It just gives them an opportunity to kind of escape some of the stress they're under to be able to just open a book," said library employee Teresa Hernandez.

Library workers have collected a few dozen books to send overseas, but if you'd like to help them with their collection, you can drop off paperbacks to the Library Center on S. Campbell.
