The Springfield City Clerk has certified the following candidates for the 2009 City Council elections following the final deadline to turn in petitions on Tuesday, Nov. 18. The names are listed in the order in which they were certified.

Mayor: Jim O’Neal, Sandra Queen Noble, Christopher Donegan, Pythian Castle owner Tamara Finocchiaro


Zone 1: Nick Ibarra, incumbent councilman Denny Whayne, Cameron Eaton


Zone 4: former major league pitcher Scott Bailes


General A: Robert Stephens, Lyle Foster, Tom Martz


General B: John Rush, Jason Lillard, Fred Ellison


There will be primaries for the Mayor, Zone 1, General A and General B seats on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009. The two candidates with the highest vote totals will be eligible to run in the General Election on Tuesday, April 7, 2009.
