Tour the New JQH Arena

By KSPR News

It's been nearly two years in the making, but it will be just two more days before the JQH Arena opens to the public.
The Missouri State campus is gearing up for its first men's basketball game of the season Saturday (11-22).
Even if you're not a fan of MSU, sports, or MSU sports, the people here, hope you give, at least, the new JQH arena, a shot.

"It's a whole new entertainment level that we haven't been able to provide the community and we'll be doing that now," said MSU external affairs spokesman Padraic McMeel.

The seating alone is worth it. 11,000 chairs, no more bleachers. Plus, there's box seating, and special "prime overtime" loge seating. We're not even sure what loge seating is, but you can bet it's pretty cool. You can even buy a beer in one of those hot spots.

There's so much more to love at the JQH arena. The seats are wider, there are cupholders on all the seats and believe it or not, the food is supposed to even taste better.

"We kind of elevated what we had before so hopefully you won't be getting the stale popcorn. The food is much better, " McMeel said.

In all, seven new concession stands offer choices from angus beef to gourmet ice cream. You can buy still a hotdog, but why would you? In fact, everything here is to the extreme.

From one unique thing to the next. A hall of fame filled with memorabilia may just top it off. It's not just about a simple game. It's simply about what's in this new name.
If you haven't heard by now, the JQH Arena is named after John Q Hammons who donating several million dollars to the project.
By the way, the men's basketball home opener is this Saturday at 7 p-m, tickets are still available.
