Obama Sign in West Plains

By KSPR News

A sign of the political times in the Ozarks has many questioning the message ... And the source.

This billboard is on US 63 in the Howell County Community of West Plains. No one has claimed responsibility for putting up the sign, but Howell County democrats are upset at the image of Barack Obama in a turban.

Obama has fought internet rumors that he's Muslim. He grew up in a Christian family.

The West Plains Daily Quill gave us this picture. The paper quotes billboard owner Ronnie ford as saying he doesn't know who put up the provocative message.

Obama is elected. Anyone who actually bothers to work will be hurt by Liberal laziness and class envy. Democrats are either stupid, lazy, or jealous of people that have been successful. There is probably a VERY small number who actually want to help society, volunteer, donate their own money to charity, and really care about others. And to Kate who thinks going to school is an excuse for welfare-guess what? Some people actually WORK while going to school and raising kids. Get a job.

I agree with Shawn about pretty much everything. Everything will fall apart under Obama. Businesses will be forced to cut back on employees and raise prices. This will hurt us all and some people will actually be surprised. I have one Dem friend who was shocked prices went up after the minimum wage was raised. How is this surprising? The businesses are passing the costs along. What a shock. Those of us on salary wound up making LESS because all our expenses went up. Just wait until...

Let's face it. This sign expresses freedom of speech. I, as a democrat, am not offended by it for this reason: This sign causes republicans to laugh and democrats to shake their heads in shame of the small-mindedness that many of our population share. Regardless, do you think a sign like this will cause anyone to re-think their vote? Of course not.

Policies and different initiatives are passed by Congress. Who has been the majority party in Congress over the past couple of years? The Democrats. The President has become just a shield to catch the heat from their decisions. We DO need change. Politicians never keep half of their promises. Why do you all think Obama will be any different?

The whole Republican = Less Government thing is wrong. McCain and Bush both supported things like the Patriot Act, No Child Left Behind, and the recent bailout, which extended the role of the government to spy on their citizens, control education (which should be a states right), and nationalize some financial institutions. Granted to did most of the Democrats, but if you want a candidate that truly believes in less government, vote Libertarian. The mainstream rep. party is not conservative.

I've paid my taxes and my school is being paid with loans that I will have to pay back and grants. I am thankful for the assistance with housing, food and gas. We wouldn't be able to make it right now without it. GPA = 3.17

This kind of stuff is funny to me. Does the sign maker not realize that eight years under Republican government has gotten us more abortions, legalized same sex marriage, and increased gun regulations?
