TALK BACKS: Gas Shortage

What would you do if there was a gas shortage in the Ozarks?

By KSPR News

A gas shortage in some southeastern U.S. states prompted one KSPR Daily Download segment. We wanted to know what would you do if a gas shortage happened here in the Ozarks. Many people suggested they would resort back to non-gas guzzling methods like walking or riding a horse. What would you do? Keep the discussion going by leaving your thoughts below.

Here are your Talk Backs…

“Stay home i guess it is to expensive as it is to do too much running around.”

“Take my quarterhorse instead!!!”

“Buy a horse real quick.” –Bob, Buffalo

“Crap my pants.I work 35 miles from my job.I would be forced to ride my bike to work i guess. The bills dont just disappear!”

“I would saddle up my horse and ride him every where.”

“Stay home, or walk just like we do now.”

“Walk or ride my bicycle.”

“Stay at home unless I have to go out, do all errands in one trip.”

“Use moonshine instead.” –Jason

“Most of us do a lot of unnecessary driving. Either we go places we don't really need to go, or use a car to drive a block or two to the store when we could walk, bicycle or use some other means of transportation. A gas shortage would just help us to trim away what isn't really necessary. We're so spoiled and unthankful for our many blessings in this country.”

“There should never be one we buy foren oil.”

“Depending on the extent of gas shortage that occurred, I would carpool with friends and family.
Or since I live 14 miles out of Springfield, I might consider staying at a Springfield hotel and using public transportation and/or walking everywhere I needed to go.” –Kyle, Fair Grove

“Give old dobbin another bucket of oats and go miles and miles. Since i'm retired i can go for weeks and weeks if nessary on 1 tank of gas.” –Sam, Kimberling City

“Not a dang thing casue we need to without cars and go back to horses and buggy.”

“If there were a gas shortage in the Ozarks, I'd do what I always do: ride my bicycle. Everywhere. But I would breathe easier while doing it, as there would be fewer gas-guzzling monstrosities pointlessly belching clouds of exhaust in my face, while their inattentive power-tripping drivers further endanger me and everyone else on the road, nursing their road-rage and yapping self-righteously on their cellphones about the
scourge of second-hand smoke in public places. Think about it.” –Dave, Springfield

“Ride my horse,or 4wheeler.”

“I'd just ride my horse everywhere. It would even help the environment.”

“Hitch a ride with the Amish.” –Jim
