Laborer's Union President in Springfield

By KSPR News

A big name in organized labor is using his voice to speak out about the presidential campaign in the Ozarks.

The general president of the laborers international union spoke at Springfield's Teamster's hall Monday (10-6) night.
“Working men and women, it’s you, me and us and those that build and toil to make this the greatest country there is in the world. But this administration forgot that. They think it is all about Wall Street and corporate America and they’ve done everything they can to reward their friends and to screw the working people in this country and that is what this election is all about. It is our country not theirs. We’re the ones that fight wars for this country. We’re the ones that build America. We’re the ones that service America and make this great country what it is today,” said Terry O’Sullivan, LiUNA president.

O’Sullivan is part of a traveling effort to get laborers and other union workers interested in the election.

“Workers need to know that no matter what their union contract says that what government does can impact them every day of their lives and it's important for who they vote for and how they vote when they go to the polls," said Teamsters Local 245 spokesman Jim Kabell.

The laborers have endorsed Senator Barack Obama for president.

The citizens of our country in this election are going to vote with their wallets and pocketbooks. The Obama-Biden ticket seems to be the only ones who truly care about the middle class. Senator McCain only cares about his rich corporate friends and Governor Palin doesn't have a clue.

I do Not think it is fair or good practice to push working people into voting for Obama. Truly one can see without a doubt Obama is a shady character. His words are just that WORDS.
