Thanks to tough economic times the American dream of owning the house with the white picket fence, for many, has never seemed so far away.
But a local property management company has put home ownership back on the table with a twist to the concept of rent to own.
Tenants who sign a two or three year lease with TLC Properties can also sign up for the American Dream program.
When the lease expires, TLC gives the renter up to 5% or $2,250 back- provided he or she puts it towards a down payment or closing costs on a home.
“We are trying to help tenants by making an investment in their financial future so they can make an investment in their financial future. Renting is no longer throwing your money away,” explains Jacob Harvey with TLC Properties.
The company launched the American Dream program- appropriately- on the fourth of July.
So far they've had just a handful of people sign up; we’ll introduce you to one of them Sunday at ten.
