Springfield Police Respond to Two Early Morning Shootings

The victim in the South Jefferson Ave. shooting early Saturday morning has been identified as Robert Campbell.
He died in a Springfield hospital as a result of a gun shot wound to the head early Saturday evening.
Police have arrested a person of interest in the homicide.
He was picked up for an unrelated charge- a parole and probation violation.
The suspect is being held in the Greene County Jail without bond.

Springfield police responded to two overnight shootings early Saturday morning.
The first shooting happened close to 1:30 a.m. at the Electric Cowboy on South Campbell.
Police say witnesses and club employees report there were several disturbances inside the building, and then the people involved took their arguments into the parking lot.
There was a physical confrontation when one man retrieved a rifle from his vehicle and then shot two other men.
The 26 and 31-year-old victims both sustained shoulder injuries, neither of which are life-threatening.
Police arrested 21-year-old Johnathon Kates.
He is charged with First Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action and is being held in the Greene County Jail on $250,000 bond.
The second happened at an apartment on South Jefferson Avenue just before 6:30 a.m..
Police found a 41-year-old man suffering from what appeared to be a gun shot wound to the head.
He was taken toa local hospital where he died at about 5:30 Saturday evening.
Police are interviewing witnesses; no arrests have been made.
