FBI Investigate Hate Crime in Joplin

By KSPR News

The FBI is investigating a potential hate crime in southwest Missouri.
The sign for the Islamic Society of Joplin was set on fire early Thursday morning.
Fire investigators say the fire was deliberate.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Department conducted the initial investigation but the FBI has taken over.
Members of the society say the mosque hasn't had much trouble since it opened in February of 2007.
In fact membership has grown to about 40 families who come from as far away as Springfield and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The sign was only two months old.
