In a KSPR Daily Download segment Joe and Christine Daues discussed whether Washington can change. Earlier this month John McCain and Sarah Palin visited Lee's Summit, Missouri. That same day Joe Biden made stops in Columbia and St. Louis. Both had a similar message that day... change.
So we wanted to know if you think Washington can really be changed. We had a lot of mixed responses from viewers. Many said with the Republican party it could change, while others said the Democratic party could change Washington. What do you think? Leave your thoughts below. Here are your Talk Backs...
“I doubt it.”
“Yes with the rite people, hard wk n the grace of God.”
“No I dont think it can be unless the senate, and congress makes huge changes. But either way I do believe it can be shaken up.”
“Yes, it can with Obama, but if mccain is elected fannie and Freddie will be the least of your problems!”
“Are you kinding theres no way washinton can be changed under the currant sysytem of things you got to remember that the dragon the cevil is in charge.”
“Yes,washington can be changed only if the person really meant what they say or believe and dont just follow what their party usually does!”
“No! Not as long as the bureaucrats/life-long civil servants are allowed to remain encamped. Within all governmental departments these individuals really make and control how government works.”
“Change is hard to achieve but is possible. Obama = bad change. McCain = change we need while preserving morals.”
“No, no, no our elected officials represent themselves npt us. You cannot fight the system. When was the last time an official asked for your opinion on how he should vote on a subject.” –Sam, Kimberling City
“No, most politicians follow the traditions and believes of their parties causing little change in washington.”
“I don’t think the Senators and Congressmen want change to come about.”
“It is unfortunate, but we appear to have started a Socialist Machine in Washing which is feeding itself VERY WELL, and with the two big parties in charge, they will continue to do so by forcing citizens to be subjects to either Big Business or Big Government....so there is no real change even if the controlling party changes.” –Tom
“If people do not attempt to achieve a particular goal, they have a 100 percent assurance of failure. Perhaps that is why Washington hasn't changed, most people figure it is impossible so they don't even try. Just think what our world would be like if Edison hadn't kept experimenting and came up with the light bulb, or Orville and Wilbur didn't keep trying to fly - we wouldn't have ended up on the moon.”
“I have my voter registration card taped to my bathroom mirror. And each time I see the image above it, I feel regret. Forty years of adult life and I haven't lived up to my responsibility as a U.S. citizen. All that time not speaking up in the right forums. Not writing the letters demanding responsibility of government and business. Spending the dollars carelessly, that should have been set aside for my later years, and my children's future. And being witness to the eight year rape of our economy by power mad dullards. No more. I've vowed to DO SOMETHING. When my neighbor asks me what I think of the mess we're in, I'll respond by saying "I send a letter once each day, to view my opinion and offer a positive suggestion." I don't have time to 'catch up' for forty years, but come Nov. 4th, I'll take that card down, and use it with at least a small measure of self respect.” –Rick
“No i don't belive washington can change because you would have to fix years of damages before you could even begin to think cant current problems.”
“Not if we get more of the McSame!” –Kathee
“Yes it can change. It has changed several times in our history. And yes it needs to change. What is being said is more a change of the last eight years of neglect. The ignoring of the issues that affect Americans at home. The constitution won't change as a whole. But what needs to change is the outside influences of the lobbyists and the questionable conduct of the various divisions of the administration.” –Dave
“I truly believe we will see positive change when Barack Obama and Joe Biden get to the White House. We know Sen Obama has xlnt judgement from his courageous votes before Bush (and McCain's) decision to go to war. We also know that Democrats believe in more responsible and compassionate government- and you can have both. I don't want 4 more years of poor decision making for the middle class. I don't know anyone who is better off in Spgfd than they were when Pres Clinton was in office. From our pocketbooks to a war that only prospers Haliburton and Blackwater and was spawned by provem outright lies to Congress and the American people, to responsible family planning (even if we don't all agree on a woman's right to choose, most Americans want responsible family planning with birth control available from our insurance companies and pharmacies). Holding on for November!”

Nope, not when people think the DNC or the RNC hold the answer to this mess. Ron Paul spoke reason and was classified as a kook and a fringe candidate. The Federal Reserve system is unconstitutional, and all these bailouts are illegal.
