City Utilities board approves rate increase

By KSPR News

The Springfield City Utilities board approved next year's budget Thursday.

That means if you're a customer, you could be paying more for natural gas next year.

The hike is spread out over three years.

The impact to you will be an extra six or seven dollars a month. City Council still must approved the utility's budget.

If you do your research you will find that CU has some of the lowest rates in the U.S. If you only make $8.50 an hour that's not CU's fault. Learn to save energy and cut your costs down and better yet if you don't like it maybe you should move somewhere else and pay higher rates.

Might as well just move to a warm place and be done with it. Springfield wages don't support an increase for utilities. $8.50 an hour (which is Springfield's average wage), hardly pays for rent let alone utilities.
