St. Louis May Help Chicago Host Olympic Games

By KSPR News

ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis hosted the Olympics in 1904 and may not ever do it again. But if Chicago gets the 2016 Olympic Summer Games, St. Louis could have a role.

Chicago is reportedly asking some surrounding cities to host satellite events. The St. Louis Sports Commission says the city could host soccer games.

St. Louis has a rich soccer history. Marc Schreiber of the Sports Commission says the Edward Jones Dome would be a logical place for holding the soccer games, though there has never before been an Olympic soccer game played indoors.

St. Louis must have its formal bid completed by September 22nd. Chicago won't know until next year whether it gets to host the 2016 Games.
