COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Court records say the 16-year-old son of a woman found dead in her car trunk allegedly assaulted the woman last year and threatened to kill her.
Investigators have described the youth, Gary Sanders, and his 19-year-old brother, Daniel Sanders, as people of interest in the death of 53-year-old Helen Sanders.
Police found her body last Thursday during a traffic stop.
Daniel Sanders, the car's driver, faces a charge of tampering with evidence in connection with the body's discovery. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing yesterday in his first court appearance.
Gary Sanders was released to his grandparents' custody in St. Louis after initially being detained by police.
An autopsy did not immediately indicate the cause and manner of Helen Sanders' death.
