Cox Security Guard Dies After Beating by Arson Suspect

By Michelle Sherwood

A Cox North security guard, kicked in the head by an arson suspect earlier this week, has died.

Police say Monte Ruby was helping subdue 41-year-old Jeffrey Bolden, when Bolden kicked Ruby. Minutes later, the security guard collapsed.

Court documents say Ruby suffered injuries to his brain stem and spine. Bolden was charged with felony assault on a law officer. The Greene County prosecutor says he is waiting on autopsy results or medical confirmation before deciding on additional charges.

Someone commits felony murder when they cause another person to die, while they are committing a felony. The punishment for felony murder ranges from 10 years to life in prison.
