The Stone County Sheriff calls it a tiger attack, but employees say it was just a terrible accident.
A teenage intern at Branson's Interactive Zoo and Aquarium is in critical condition.
His neck was punctured by tiger teeth Monday.
Tuesday a very different story emerged about what happened inside a cage filled with three Bengal tigers.
Both the sheriff's department and employees talked to the only two people who witnessed the attack besides the injured teenager, Dakoda Ramel.
The sheriff says all three tigers attacked, the zoo says one tiger tried to save the boys life.
Branson's Interactive Zoo and Aquarium Biologist Sharon Sargent says, "It was simply a tragic accident."
The Stone County Sheriff's Department and employees disagree on what happened between Ramel and three Bengal tigers.
“He either backed away and fell or the tiger jumped on him. Sheriff Hill said, “Then two other animals joined in.”
Employees say only one tiger picked up Ramel to save him after he fell on this pool and hit his head.
"She dragged him to what she would have thought of as safety." Sargent says, “She picked him up like he would a cub.”
Employees say Ramel broke policy when he went into the cage alone to take a picture of the animals for a customer.
They say he'd known the tigers since they were cubs.
Sargent says, "While there is no doubt a 300 pound animal with two inch canines caused his injuries there is no doubt he would not have survived if this was an aggressive attack."
Both the sheriff's department and employees say they talked to the only two people who witnessed what happened yet the two have very different tales about what the witnesses said.
Sheriff Hill says, “The tigers managed to get him by the throat and neck area and drag him into the water.”
Meanwhile Sargent says, "The tigers probably saved his life from drowning."
While the investigations continue, the Branson west tourist attraction is back open for business.
Sargent says, "This is what Dakoda would have wanted what his family wanted."
Employees say when you work with wild animals if something goes wrong it is usually human error rather than the animals fault.
They say Dakoda and his family do not want the animal put down.
Ramel is still in the hospital in critical condition.
The sheriff's department and prosecutor will decide the fate of the tigers when the prosecutor is back in town.
The USDA is still deciding if it will open an investigation.
Meanwhile PETA is asking the USDA to permanently revoke the facility's license.

Also, when my family visited on Thursday, an employee was laying in the cage with the hyenas after what had happened with the tiger attack on Monday!!!! Unbelievable . .

My family just visited this "zoo" on Thursday of this week, not knowing anything about what had happened on Monday. We all thought it was a horrible place and that the animals were confined in tiny, dirty, shabby spaces. We all wondered who we could report this place to. Maybe during the investigation of what happened to the employee there, the proper animal protection authorities will shut it down. It is a terrible place for animals of any species!!!

I also worked at this facility and walked out. This is a terrible place. Several good people work there, but several members of the management team have no business keeping animals. Many terrible things have happened there. I still have problems sleeping thinking about the animals I couldn't save. No one listened to me when I tried to report them, because I was only 16. I also have many stories to tell that could shed true light on Predator World. Dakoda is my friend, and I hope he makes it.

If the tiger was carrying Dakoda like a cub, then why didn't she carry him like a cub? Tigers don't bite hard enough to puncture their cubs' necks, why then, bite hard enough to puncture his? I think that animals know the difference. They know exactly where their teeth are.

I worked at the facility not to long ago and as far as the branson west attack I have news. It is news that would open everyones eyes to this zoo. I will be posting it but not until the investigation is over. This way everyone can hear what is being reported by the zoo then hear the truth from someone who has nothing to loose by telling the truth.

I actually am friends with the employee's ex-girlfriend's family and they have been at the hospital everyday with him. They said that he helped raise the tigers and that the one tiger saved him. He had sliped on some wet rocks and hit his head knocking him unconcious in the water. The tiger then drug him out of the water. If three tigers had attacked someone that was unconcious,he woul have died. And what is bad, is that the zoo is not taking any responsibility for the paralyzed 16 year old.

Animals escape zoos al over this country and accidents do happen. The ZOO should stay open and the tigers left alone. The worker atacked is a relative and would agree to keep this zoo open. That zoo family has every concern for thier employees and thier animals however, lets get the story right, it sounds like the investigation is still under, and the sheriff needs accurate information before reporting facts.

It is certainly tragic this young boy was so severely injured; however, when will people realize wild animals are just that-wild? They are behaving as only they can - not their fault! If people are so incensed at wild animals enacting inborn traits, then leave them where they belong and would rather be - in the wild! We can observe them through TV, internet, etc. It is nearing inhumane to keep them locked and caged up anyway!

The story is so confusing-is the sheriffs' dept. changing the witnessess story? The tigers' are protecting their territory- he shouldn't have been in there. Don't blame the cats, if they wanted him dead-he would have been mauld to death. Leave the animals alone and retrain your employees to respect wild animals. Too may zoos take the blame for human stupidity.

Regardless of what happened, no one can deny that it was the employee's fault and not the fault of the animals or their owners. He was -- quite obviously -- in the wrong place at the wrong time, trying to do a good thing but in the wrong way. If we're smart we won't give PETA any undeserved illusion of credibility. The Ozarks ought to know better!

I would have to agree with PETA by asking to permanently revoke the facility's liscene. I used to live in that area and have seen what control they have with their animals when 2 timber wolves escaped .My best friend has owned and operated a childcare facility near this so called zoo , the center has been there for over 10 years and the great wonderful city of Branson West and Stone County have allowed this zoo to build there . SHUT THEM DOWN FOR GOOD , PLEASE .......
