Offensive License Plate in Arkansas

By KSPR News

An Arkansas driver is complaining about a letter combination on a license plate issued to her.
She says the letter combination suggested the "n" word.
Many states use the arrangement of three numbers and three letters on vehicle license plates. Most are nonsensical.

But when Alice Kunce got her new license plate, she found the letter combination of NGR offensive and would not put it on her car.

The Arkansas office of motor vehicles says it has pulled the plate series. It says it has already issued 17 versions of the plate. Those plates will *not* be recalled.

NGR just happens to be the IOC Code (International Olympic Committee) for Nigeria and is NOT considered racist. Only an ingnorant, uneducated person could possibly see this license plate as being offensive. The US has become overly "pc" with everything these days.

I think that she did the right thing. she just wanted to make sure that nobody was offended by her. I know her, and she is a great person.

They are just letters. The new Arkansas are nice. I think that the new Missouri plate are really lame.

As the one wrriter said, our nation has become way too politically correct. The same is true of the so-called hate crimes. Just because a white person does something bad to a black person, or vice versa, doesn't necessarily mean "hate." Maybe they just don't like each other. Or maybe the bad person is just that: a bad person. License plate issuing is a random thing unless you pay for personalized plates. The lady should just get over it.

It's a state issued license plate. Not a personal plate. People, need to stop taking everyday things and turning them racial. It's not like they put NGR on the plate to abbreviate the “n” word on purpose. It’s just random lettering.

What?!? I had a teacher with the last name Ngar. That was my first thought when I saw the plate. I think some people are too sensitive, looking for things to offend them.

I wonder, if one day in the future, that all license plate letter-number combinations will be deemed offensive by someone... We are just way to politically correct..

I think that it does need to be recalled cause if it is offensive to the driver then it would be offensive to other drivers along the road. Although I am not a racist person but they need to consider other peoples emotions and reactions.
