McCain Talks About Abortion in Kansas City

By KSPR News

Republican presidential candidate John McCain made a stop in the Show-Me state Thursday.

During a town hall meeting with about 1,000 people, he discussed soaring energy prices, the war, and our dependence on foreign oil.

He also spoke about a touchy subject with many Americans... abortion.

McCain explained the difference between him and democratic candidate Barack Obama on the issue.

"He voted against a ban on partial birth abortions. My friends, that's a hideous procedure. It should never been allowed any place on earth. That's a great difference. That's a great difference between the two of us. And you can count on my active advocacy for the rights of the unborn," McCain said.

McCain also declared himself the underdog in Missouri.

A poll released earlier this week shows Obama slightly ahead of McCain in the state.

In 100 years today's pro-lifers will be viewed as barbarians. Killing 600000 babies a year in the USA is inexcusable. Freedom for all life is what this country is founded upon, not just life a mother decided to not abort.

In 100 years today's pro-choicers will be viewed in the same light as we view the slaveholders of the 1800s. Both groups consider(ed) an entire class of people as property, and both had a Supreme Court opinion to back it up.

Abortion is the definitive issue for me. I could never vote for anyone who voted against the partial birth abortion ban. It shows how liberal Obama is. What good will a booming economy be if we lose our moral compass? McCain has my vote!

Though it is an important topic, in the times where are kids are serving 2-3 terms in Iraq and we have people being denied insurance, I feel these are the issues I will be looking more closely at.

How about an independent review of the "fact." McCain made several false and misleading statements: "If you like higher taxes then Senator Obama is your man." He did not ask the audience if they made more than $250,000. Broken Social Security and Medicare, but he never says that he wants to cut both Voters deserve an independent news report to give them the facts.
