SALESVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Officials say a helicopter inspecting power lines in northern Arkansas crashed today near the Norfork Dam, killing two people aboard.
FAA spokesman Roland Herwig says the helicopter, owned by Ozark Mountain Helicopters LLC, crashed just before 9:30 a.m. Baxter County sheriff's deputies say the helicopter came down on the far side of Norfork Dam in the Overlook Estates area.

Baxter County Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Lewis has identified the dead as 57-year-old pilot James Dean Evertsen of West Plains, Missouri, and 51-year-old Randall J. Arthur, of Marshfield, Missouri, an employee of Sho-Me Power Electric Cooperative. Lewis says both of the men's bodies likely will be sent to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for autopsies.
Evertsen was owner of Ozark Mountain Helicopters, a tour company based out of Branson, Missouri.
Son Casey Evertsen, a manager at Ozark Mountain Helicopters, says Sho-Me Power Electric Cooperative of Marshfield, Missouri, hired the helicopter to inspect power lines.
A woman who answered the phone at Sho-Me Power said no one there could discuss the crash.
Herwig says the National Transportation Safety Board is expected to investigate the crash.
P.J. Spaul, a spokesman for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, says the helicopter clipped transmission lines running from the dam either before or as it crashed. Spaul says the crash cut the lines and sparked two power surges in generators at the Bull Shoals and Norfork power plants.
Spaul says workers are still inspecting their generators.
Salesville is about 10 miles southwest of Mountain Home.

To Mr. Arthur's family and fiance, I am so sorry. May peace come. I knew the pilot as a good, good man. Some spend all their time in life building monuments with money and things. James Evertson left monuments of the heart all over this country. Monuments of quiet service. Monuments of love. Many. He just loved people. So this news hurts many. For those hurt deepest, may you find a quiet heart in the hands of a knowing God.

How sad that this incident occurred. I didn't know Mr. Arthur, but did have the good fortune to meet Mr. Evertsen last year. I had some questions about helicopters and he was most eager to answer them. He was a great pilot and really enjoyed giving rides in Branson.
