Man Charged in Connection with Springfield Homicide

A man arrested at the site of Monday’s homicide in Springfield now faces charges.

Prosecutors charged 43 year old Kansas City, Missouri man Darryl Vest with 2nd degree murder.

Monday night he knocked on a door of an apartment complex at 727 South Avenue.

He told the people inside someone was hurt and lying in the apartment's courtyard.

When police arrived at the scene, they arrested Vest in connection with the beating death of 33 year old James Dake of Columbia.

Vest’s bond is set at $250,000.
