2 Teens Arrested for Greene County Motorcycle Thefts

A July car crash in west Springfield has helped Greene County deputies catch a group of motorcycle thieves.
In the early morning hours of July 19th, police responded to a crash at Farm Road 156 and West Bypass.
The driver told investigators three males had been sitting in the middle of the road on small motorcycles. When he tried to avoid them, he lost control and crashed into the woods.
The motorcycle riders then allegedly attacked and robbed the man, but ran off before deputies arrived, the 3 motorcycles they left behind turned out to be stolen.
The investigation by Greene County Sheriff’s Office detectives has now resulted in the recovery of total of 4 stolen motorcycles taken in 2 recent burglaries in western Springfield.
Arrests have been made of 2 males, ages 16 & 17, and 2 other suspects have been identified.
Formal charges of 1st Degree Tampering have been filed against one of the suspects, identified as 17 year old Marvin R. Maples.
The other suspect is currently held in the Greene County Juvenile detention facility.
All of the suspects in this robbery and burglary investigation are Springfield area residents.
