Mark and Brittney Grantham were like many newlyweds Saturday, all smiles after tying the knot.
But this couple has been through a lot in their two years together.
And their wedding reflected their dedication to always stand at each others side.
"I was just very excited,” says Brittney Grantham. “I'm just looking at him thinking how lucky I am to have a guy like him."
Brittney and Mark Grantham were all smiles Saturday.
"She has been the true picture of true love,” says Mark.
"It's true love between both of us,” adds Brittney.
After two years together, that love finally culminated.
“I was excited,” says Mark. “Like any groom should be on his wedding day."
"All of the sudden it hit me,” says Brittney. “I'm getting married. I'm dedicating my life to someone else."
Dedication between Mark and Brittney means a lot since Mark cannot walk.
He broke his neck while life guarding two years ago.
"From the first time I ever saw her in intensive care, she came around the corner and looked at me and said if you think this changes a thing, you're wrong,” says Mark.
"If the accident had changed him, I don't know if I'd be with him,” says Brittney. “But he stayed the same person, he was strong."
Strong and determined to stand at his wedding. A promise he had made and kept to Brittney.
"Mark didn’t' tell me he was going to be in a stand chair,” says Brittney.
"I was excited to see what Brittney's reaction was going to be because she had no idea,” says Mark.
Her reaction was nothing but happiness… which brought everyone to their feet.
"I wouldn't be with him unless he was an amazing guy,” says Brittney.
The morning of Mark's accident was the first day he shopped for an engagement ring after getting permission from Brittney's dad to marry his daughter.
Mark was finally able to propose, two months later from his hospital bed the day before he went off to Colorado for physical therapy.
Brittney obviously said yes.
