Unclaimed Property; Albert in Billings

By KSPR News

This week during our 5:30 newscast, KSPR News has been knocking on doors and reconnecting Ozarkers with their missing money from unclaimed property.
Thursday we headed west to Billings.
People who know him call him Albee, his name is Albert, and did we have a surprise for him.
We caught up with Albert while he was cleaning up on his farm in Billings one evening.
Albert is aware of unclaimed property. He's even received some money back… about enough to buy a bale of hay.
“One of them was 15 dollars,” he said.
But he was sure if the state had any more of his money, it wasn't much.
“Too much hassle for a $3 to $4 dollar check, and that's kind of what I assume I have coming,” he said.

So during a game of horse with his daughter we convinced him to call the state treasurer's office and check.
Turns out Albert or his dad, who had the same name, had some money from Met Life, the life insurance company for several hundred dollars.
Not bad for an old dairy farmer who'd be happy with 50 bucks.
“Fifty dollars is worth pursuing,” he said. “That's a half a tank of fuel in that truck and that's the truth.”

I spoke with Albert this afternoon, he says the ball is rolling on his claim.
And this story gets even better, Albert's brother checked his name out and he's got some unclaimed property.
