Abandoned Springfield House Set on Fire

By KSPR News

Smoke filled the sky in southwest Springfield Wednesday evening.
KSPR caught the image on our tower cam about 6 p.m.
The Springfield Fire Department says an abandoned house was intentionally set on fire.
In fact this is the third abandoned house fire in a 12-acre wooded area near Battlefield and Golden this year. Investigators say one of those fires was intentionally set, the other was too badly damaged to determine the cause.
"It's under investigation,” said David Hall of the Springfield Fire Department.
“Hopefully we preserved enough of the structure for the fire investigator to get in and make a ruling on it."
Firefighters used a backhoe to tear down the building while it was still smoldering. An investigator will determine the exact cause.
