Supernanny in the Ozarks

By KSPR News

As someone once said, it takes a village to raise a child, but sometimes a good helper will do just as well.
As parents know, a reliable babysitter, daycare provider or nanny is worth their weight in gold. We've seen The Supernanny on TV, now meet a supernanny of the Ozarks.

Sure it makes for good TV, but are kids outside of the Hollywood spotlight really this bad?

Not in the Cole household. 5-month old Hollis is about as close to an angel as you'll find in an infant and her guardian two days a week is Nanny Sherri Black. A job Sherri wasn't even looking for.

"I wasn't, but Jennifer said she needed one and my sister asked me"

Mom, Jennifer works for a marketing company in Springfield, husband Ryan is an attorney. Hiring a nanny fit their needs perfectly.

"Financially it was about the same and the one on one care and not having to get her out everyday to a daycare"

Hollis, like every baby has her moments and Sherri, like every good nanny knows how to roll with it.

"Try and figure out what the problem is and get through it"

Unlike the families on Supernanny... Hollis and Sherri spend their days playing with Hollis’s many toys and as you can imagine lots of sleeping and eating. The nap times are when Sherri catches up on her other nanny duties.

"Do a little cleaning, some laundry, she wakes up and we play until her mom gets home"

Mom knows her daughter doesn't fit the TV nanny show profile.

"She’s very easygoing, I’m sure that will change when she hits the terrible twos"

For now though Hollywood can keep its entertainment, Sherri will keep the peace and quiet of her nanny job.

If you have a great nanny, we'd love to hear about them and we may do a story, contact us at news at kspr dot com. And you have a chance to audition your family for the ABC show supernanny.

It's happening this Saturday at the battlefield mall in Springfield, from noon until 4:00 pm. Supernanny producers will be set up in the JC Penney east court by the ruby Tuesday entrance. Be prepared to fill out some forms, have your family's picture taken and be interviewed by producers.
