Seven Schools Accept Oprah's Big Give Challenge

By Brad Belote

Seven schools in southwest Missouri have been chosen to be part of KSPR and Oprah's Big Give Change Your School Challenge. KSPR will award $10,000 to schools that raise money to improve their school and community. For two weeks, schools will raise money for a project or need in their school community. The best performing schools will be awarded thousands of dollars to complete their project. Here are the school and their projects:
Springfield Public School District – Fundraising for a freshman Mentoring Program
Crocker High School – Fundraising for New Computers
Spokane High School – Fundraising for a New Baseball Field
Fair Play High School – Fundraising for Smartboards
Willard High School – Fundraising for a Horse Therapy Program for Disabled Children
Stoutland High School – Fundraising to send Veterans to WW II Memorial in DC
Finley River School – Scholarship for Children with Autism

KSPR News will feature the schools and their efforts in April on KSPR News and kspr.com. You can watch Oprah's Big Give
