State fails to shred sensitive documents

By KSPR News

Identity theft is becoming a more frequent crime in our area. And now the state of Missouri is taking heat for compromising your personal information.

State files thrown in unsecured recycling bins have names, social security numbers and even birth certificates.

But one person in the department says that's not happening.

When the division of family services moved in with the division of child support enforcement there were too many files to shred.

A special assistant says they thought the recycling company would do it.
