Illinois May Lower Driving Permit Age to 14

High school freshman may soon be behind the wheel in Illinois.

A legislator in the state wants to lower the age drivers can get their permits to 14.

The current requirement is 15 in Illinois.

Lawmakers hope lowering the limit will give young drivers more practice on the road.

The house's Drivers' Education Committee still needs to approve the bill.
