Ozarks Businessman Pleads Not Guilty to Killing Nixa Prom Queen

By KSPR News

An Ozarks businessman pleaded not guilty Thursday to rape and murder charges stemming from the beating death of a Nixa prom queen more than 20 years ago.

Gerald Carnahan is accused in the 1985 slaying of Jackie Johns. The Christian County woman's body was found in Lake Springfield.

Police arrested Carnahan last year after a cold-case investigator tested DNA from Johns's body and reportedly linked it to Carnahan.

Carnahan is being held without bond. He’s due back in court on April 8th for a pre-trial conference.
