In Thursday's Download segment we discussed the economic stimulus package and what it would mean for U.S. citizens. Basically, if the package passes it would put anywhere from $300-$1,200 back into your wallet through a refund check from the government.
So we wanted to know how would you spend the extra dough. We got a handful of responses, some of them responsible, and others a little more on the fun side. We invite you to continue the discussion by adding how you plan on using the money. Here are your Talk Backs...
“Pay bills”
“Wine, women, song. Or maybe just the first two.”
“Pay my doctor bills that keep piling up.”
“Unfortunately i will have to it put it all towards bills and school loans”
“I will go the Brown Derby and stock up on beer and if there is any money left I will go to Victoria's Secret to get something for the old lady! “ –Dave
“We're having a baby in july, so diapers!”
“Pay off some credit card debt.” –Jonathan
“I would use it for gas, food and day to day necesities. I just think that they should send those checks the same day they approve it.”
“I will spend it unwisely.”
“I thinks its supposed to be helping our economy that is what i would use it for, paying off outstanding bills and a new washer& dryer” –Rachel
“Well if I'm not behind on winter heating bills I'll donate it to obama. its what I'll bet on for hope for us all. because it will add to the national debit and we will have to pay it back, nothing is free from the goverment. you know I'm from the goverment and i'm here to help, and the checks in the mail” –Mark
“Ill use my money to fix up my mustang or buy a xbox 360. Either way ill have a great time!”

I'm 65 retired and can't pay the bills. I work part time to help out. This check won't make a dent in the bills I have. So I will just us it for grocerys, and gas. Next I will sell my car and quit my job, because it just don't pay to work any more for me. It cost me more to work than I can earn.

We had a car window broken out by a tree limb in Friday's wind storm -- so there goes $250 of it! Also plan to stock the freezer and fill the propane tank. The rest will go to my daughter to buy her school clothes in the fall.

We will have ours on the day of my wifes birthday. I am handing it to her and sending her to the mall. She can go shopping for whatever she wishes. She deserves it. She is a great wife, mother and friend. I know she'll buy me something too!

I doubt I get a refund check. The IRS will intercept it for back taxes.

I was wrong and I'll admit it. The stimulus payments aren't like the extra rebate checks that were handed out a few years ago. The IRS has issued a statement suspending all the myths. The stimulus payments will not lower your refund for 2008. Here is the link to the article I read http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/buggs/5596552.html

I did do some research a few days ago when I heard talk while getting my taxes done. This rebate will be deducted from any refund you receive next year. That's how it's being funded. That's how the previous rebate was funded a few years back. Beware you won't get as much back next year.

I think it is a good thing to get a little extra money back, and the people complaining should really be gratful because i know they will spend the money while they are running their mouth.

It would be nice to have the money but it would not make a dent in the rising cost of living now and days. Shoot a person has to hold down two jobs just to squeek by now and when you are going to college to try to get a better job that is almost impossible. So getting an extra $300-1200 would only last a person a month if they knew how to conserve so I don't think it will help the economy very much.

I am pulled in a few directions. I have four children that want and need a few things. I have a husband that likes to spend all our money on his cars. I also have a few bills that need payed but I am scared that I will have to give it back so I think I might just put it in the bank and let it sit until I know that no one wants it back.

Like most Social Security recipients my check is not enough to pay all my expenses so whatever I get will be a drop in the bucket.

I would love to catch up on very very past due bills. Reality is that there will never be enough money for the world to get out of debt so if the check is intended to better my childrens future I would enjoy a day out free for all shopping. How often can you say you went out and spent guilt free????

I agree nothing comes to us for free. this amount of money is not that much now days. If they give it to us I will spend it like they ask me to and thats on the economy not on bills.

Considering the IRS is having a difficult time even finding the funds for our 'regular' refunds this year (good luck on getting an electronic return right away!), I think I'll just be happy to see any check from the government. What will I use it on? Something the government wants....it being returned right to them in some form or another. I'm with Granny!

I would have to say I will use it to pay bills and the spend in the economy. I would love to send it all to my credit card company.

Are we kidding? Getting this $600 bucks is a slap in the face for what this admistration has costed us. 3.2 trillion just to take care of our injured vets, not to mention the billions a month that we have been sending over to fight a faceless enemy, wasted money on frivilous causes. That $600 bucks will fill my gas tank only 12 times. It'll pay for a month of groceries, maybe. They are so out of touch with what things really cost these days! That's the real economic problem... Overinflation

I'll spend half on some of the debt that I owe, but the other half I would buy something that I either need or want. That way I'm helping myself AND doing my little bit to help the economy.

I'm going to give the whole thing to the ACLU. Nobody else has had the gumption to challenge this Administration for their arrogance, abuse of power and snooping into our private lives.
