Hog Farm Opposition

By Christine Daues

The Dade County Commission is hoping a newly passed health ordinance will keep out a corporate hog farm.
KSPR has learned several landowner's north and west of Lockwood were offered options on their land from a large farming company.
Presiding Commissioner Carl Beerly tells us in some cases those options were twice the land's current value.
He says many farmers don't want a large corporate hog farm near them.
The County Commission's new health ordinance is patterned after another Missouri county's effort to prevent large farming operations in Missouri.
