United Way Launches 2-1-1 Phone Service

By KSPR News

The United Way of the Ozarks launched the Missouri 2-1-1 phone service today.

Missouri 2-1-1 is a phone number that connects people with health and human service information in Springfield.

The program is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Callers will be given referrals to services and volunteer opportunities.

Agencies in the Missouri 2-1-1 database provide services such as food and shelter, health resources, and work initiatives.

"As we refine the system you'll be able to call and you'll be able to find out what kind of services are provided in that agency as well as the kind of agency that it is," John Rush, United Way of the Ozarks president told us.

Missouri 2-1-1 will serve 27 counties in the Ozarks.

The service can not be reached from your cell phone at this time.
