LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A day before Arkansas' primary, candidates for congressional seats say they're confident they can win party nominations outright. Republicans and three Democrats are seeking the right to run for U.S. Rep. Mike Ross' 4th District seat — Arkansas' only Democratic-held congressional spot. In east Arkansas' 1st District, three Democrats are looking for the chance to challenge freshman Republican U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The state Lottery Commission has agreed to ask the Legislature to grant police powers to lottery security staff. Lottery Director Bishop Woosley said after today's commission meeting that the idea is still in the early stages. If approved, lottery security officers would be able to make arrests and forward information to prosecutors for possible charges.




SEARCY, Ark. (AP) — The saga of the tossed-out lottery ticket continues. Attorneys for Sharon Duncan — whom the court ruled in favor of during this month's trial — say the woman who plucked the ticket out of the trash and claimed the jackpot should turn the $1 million over to the court. Duncan's lawyers say any vehicles or property purchased with the prize money should be seized and impounded.

GRUBBS, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say a decomposing body has been found in Grubbs in eastern Arkansas. Officials have identified the man — who was found about 9:45 a.m. Monday — as 46-year-old James Eugene Moore. They do not know the cause of his death and say it is under investigation.
