NEVADA, Mo. -- A 72-year-old southwest Missouri man remains in critical condition after a freak crash that killed a restaurant customer and seriously injured two others.
Freeman Hospital spokeswoman Christen Stark in Joplin says the condition of John Becker, of Nevada, Mo., hasn't changed since a semitrailer crashed into the Quick Dine Restaurant in Nevada on Friday afternoon. Joseph Cole, a 54-year-old regular at the diner, was killed while sitting in his normal seat when the truck barreled through a wall. Stark says one of Becker's fellow diners who was also badly injured has been released from the hospital.
Investigators say the truck driver couldn't avoid a car that pulled in front of him, hitting both the car and the diner.
