COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Columbia police says the victim in a fatal attack at Truman Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital was a 78-year-old man from Warsaw. Police believe Robert O. Hill was attacked by another hospital patient on Friday night. He died four hours later.
The case is under investigation by the Columbia Police Department and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Office of Inspector General. On Monday, police issued a first-degree murder warrant for Rudy Perez Jr., 33, of Sedalia with a $1 million, cash-only bond.
Police department spokesman Sgt. Joseph Bernhard says Perez is not in police custody but is at a "local secure facility" being evaluated.
