HERMITAGE, Mo. -- Gov. Jay Nixon on Thursday appointed Clint Baker, the assessor-elect of Hickory County, to serve the remainder of the term of Assessor Kay Chilton, who resigned from the position.

Baker is a Republican who lives in Weaubleau.  He has been with the assessor’s office since 1994.  He was elected as assessor in November, a position in Missouri where the terms of office begin the following September.  Because of the vacancy, the governor appointed Baker to serve until his full term begins.
