MANES, Mo. -- A fire killed a man early Sunday in northern Wright County. Bradley Strube, 24, died in a shop near his rural home where the coroner says Strube worked on vehicles as a hobby.
Wright County Coroner Ben Hurtt says the fire was about 4 a.m. about five miles south of Manes, off Highway JJ west of Missouri 95. Hurtt says Strube lived with his grandfather but sometimes spend the night in the shop.
Hurtt says Strube died of asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation.
Firefighters from Northern Wright County and Mountain Grove departments fought the fire. Mountain Grove Fire Chief Mark Bushong said nothing is left of the shop. He said vehicles were burned in the fire.
An investigator for the State Fire Marshal’s Office was at the scene on Sunday. A spokesman for the Missouri Department of Public Safety said Tuesday that the cause is undetermined because of the extensive damage.
Hurtt Funeral Home in Mountain Grove is handling arrangements for Strube’s services.
