MOUNTAIN VIEW, Ark. -- Four members of a family died when a fire swept through their home early Friday. The Stone County Sheriff's Department says the home was destroyed; the Stone County Leader newspaper posted a photo showing the house burned to the ground.
The dead were Jeffrey W. and Carolyn Sue Bauerlein, who were both 49, and their daughters, Callie, 13, and Molly, 8. Investigators are investigating the cause of the fire.
School Superintendent Rowdy Ross says Carol Bauerlein was a ninth-grade English teacher at Mountain View High School. T he girls were eighth- and third-graders on the same campus.
Ross said school was in session on Friday but some distraught students left early. Grief counselors and clergy members were brought in to meet with students and teachers.
