GALENA, Mo. -- Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader said Tuesday morning that a couple from Michigan who were killed at a home near Table Rock Lake last week were stabbed and beaten.
Two teenagers are charged for the murders of Brian and Susan Brooks. Those teenagers escaped from the Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch that's near the home.

This is first and foremost a message for the Brooks’ family. Our hearts break when we think of the pain
and sorrow that this incident has caused your family. You are daily in our thoughts and prayers. We
want you to know that we will continue to fully cooperate and work with the authorities in this case to
ensure that justice prevails. We, too, desire that the perpetrators be held to account for this senseless
act of violence.
And to our community and those of you who have been personally affected by this tragedy, we want
you to know that we are working with the Stone County Sherriff’s department on how we can best
address your concerns. It is our intention to continue to do the best job we can in giving young men
in this community and other communities the best chance to succeed in life. This is our mission and
purpose in being here and it is through the support of many of you that young men have been given the
opportunity to change their lives around.
