UPDATE: Supervising Deputy U.S. Marshal Kelly Palmer says Lonie Ladd was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force late Saturday Night in Springfield. She was arrested without incident, and is in the Greene County Jail on $15,950 bond. Palmer says her arrest comes as a direct result of tips called-in from the story aired as a part of KSPR's Marshals Most Wanted series.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - U.S. Marshals say Lonie Ladd is a danger to the community. A judge has ordered police officers across the state to haul her back into a courtroom to answer charges.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Darren Lane said, "She's used the name Lonie Jean Mckelroy, Debbie Ladd, Donelle Morales, Lannie G. Mckelroy, and of course she will use her real name of Lonie Ladd." Lane says all those names have made it more difficult to catch her.
Ladd's criminal history is long and complicated. In 2004, she was caught trying to steal hundreds of dollars in groceries from the Dillons at St. Louis and National in Springfield. When officers came to arrest her, they found she was under the influence of narcotics.
Lane says theft is a recurring theme with Ladd. In January, 2005 she was in the Wal-Mart Supercenter on East Kearney. Loss prevention officers caught her stuffing DVD's into a backpack she stole from store shelves.
Lane added, "In October of 2007, and this is the other recurring theme with Miss Ladd, she blew through a stop sign on the east side of town near Grand and Barnes." A police officer saw her and pulled her over. She was intoxicated and was eventually convicted of Driving While Intoxicated.
Also in October, 2007, Ladd was with her longtime boyfriend Thomas Jazwinski who rear-ended another car. Lane says Ladd jumped from the car and began screaming profanities at the person in the vehicle they had just struck.
One month later at the same Dillons, Ladd and another woman filled two shopping carts to the brim with nearly $700 in food. They walked out of the store without paying. A worker followed them to the parking lot. Lane said, "That's when things started to get a little ugly."
Lane says Ladd became violent, screaming and cursing, punching and kicking the clerk. Ladd and her accomplice jumped into their car and sped out of the parking lot. But police caught up to her. She was drunk and eventually convicted of D.W.I.
In July, 2009 workers at teh Price Cutter on East Sunshine saw Ladd on video cameras shoplift. She left before police could come, but was caught when employees recognized her when she returned to the store the next day.
Ladd was convicted of all those crimes and a judge gave her a suspended sentence and probation. Prosecutors now say she's violated the conditions of her probation. A judge has issued a warrant for her arrest. She could be sent to prison for seven years, or more if a judge finds she has violated her probation.
Marshals say she's probably still hanging around longtime boyfriend Thomas Jazwinski.
Ladd is 5'5", 125 pounds and has brown hair with hazel eyes. If you know where Ladd or Jazwinkski are, call the U.S. Marshals at (417) 831-0588.
