'Endangered' girl from Stone County was found safe hours before alert was issued

CRANE, Mo. -- A missing teenager from Stone County was found hours before the sheriff's department issued an endangered persons advisory.  Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader called it a lack of communication.

The sheriff's office first sent out the advisory on Monday shortly before 5 p.m. for Kaitlynn Sneed of Crane.  The 15-year-old girl was last seen Sunday night around 7:30.

Sheriff's detectives said originally Kaitlynn had been forcibly removed from the home by her father, Gregory Sneed, who did not show up for work on Monday.  Kaitlynn was also absent from school.

Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly said the girl was found in his county at a home in Purdy in the early morning hours on Monday and then contacted Stone County.

"Things were not passed on," said Rader.  "My officer spent 10 hours investigating something that was already done; a lot of wasted manpower and time because one officer didn't communicate something."
