SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- City police are investigating a shooting death on Wednesday evening near some businesses and Bradford Park Apartments on the east side of National Avenue near Walnut Lawn Street. The shooting victim was on the ground near The Vision Clinic.
An ambulance took the victim to a hospital with a neck wound. The shooting was reported to police about 5:45 p.m.
If the death turns out to be a homicide, it would be the city's 15th of the year. Before this year, the record for homicides in one year in Springfield was 12. The annual average is six.
