SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A Marshfield school bus collided with a car and smashed into a poll in east Springfield Thursday morning, sending 16 kids to the hospital.

The crash occured shortly before 9:30 a.m. at Chesnut Expressway and Cedarbrook Avenue.

The bus, carrying 48 kids and two teachers from Webster Elementary, was on its way to Springfield's Discovery Center for a field trip.

Sixteen of the 48 fifth-graders on the school bus were transported to the hospital, along with both drivers in the crash.  Many of the kids complained of bumps, scrapes and bruises.

Two people were trapped in the other vehicle. Firefighters loaded at least one person from that vehicle onto a stretcher.
