Today, will be the warmest day of the year...so far. High temps will easily push to the mid and upper 70s. Some locations could reach 80°, which is very uncharacteristic for mid March. Normally, we should be near 57°F. We could be not only tying, but breaking records across the state.

This warm up is short lived though. A cold front will stall south of Springfield for much of the weekend, giving us several rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Severe weather is not expected with this system.

Rain amount will average between 0.5" to 1.5", with more expected the further south and east you go.

Leading into next week, the 50s return along with on and off chances of showers.
