The Southern Stone County Fire Protection District currently operates a pair of boats on Table Rock Lake specially designed for firefighting and rescue operations. The vessels are capable of pumping 2,000 gallons of water per minute. This water can be used to supply fire trucks on land, or to fight a fire with the boat's deck gun. A platform on the bow of the vessel can also be lowered, making it easier for firefighters to get injured people on board.
