Pictures: Dozens of dead birds litter south Springfield street
As many as 100 dead Starlings were found lying in the street and in yards near the intersection of Fremont and Erie in south Springfield Sunday morning. At this point, no one is sure what killed the birds. Officials don't believe there is any public health risk, but carcasses recovered by the Department of Conservation may be tested to try to determine what happened to the animals.
