Police Find Man, Woman Dead in Monett

By KSPR News

A man and woman were found dead Sunday night at a home in Monett. Police say it appears to be a case of domestic violence.

The bodies of Curtis Brandon Carter, 26, and Shelly Kay Garner, 31, were found at 9:45 p.m. Sunday inside the home at 805 N. Euclid St.

"The house was locked," police said in a news release. "Officers could see a man's body in the living room."

Police kicked in the front door and found the bodies of Carter and Garner. "The woman's body was found in a bedroom," police said. "A high-powered rifle was found near the man's body."

Police say there were no previous domestic disturbance violence calls to the home. But Carter had a pending court case involving unlawful use of a weapon, dating back to September 2008.
