Diving Machine

Bolliger & Mabillard's Diving Machine, distinguished by its wide, stadium seating-style trains, was the world's first coaster with a vertical drop when it debuted more than a decade ago. Versions of the ride, another contender for Hersheypark's Attraction 2012, can be found at Busch Gardens park in Tampa, Fla. (Sheikra) and Williamsburg, Va. (Griffon).
