The designers are trying to make the house look amazing on the inside. KSPR caught up with designer Michael Moloney who went to a popular Ozarks attraction to get some inspiration.
If you don't know who Michael Moloney is, you'll surely remember him from now on. His laugh is contagious. When we asked him to describe the Ozarks, he simply said, "humid," followed by a ton of laughter. Michael left the build site on Thursday to head to his cave, or at least Fantastic Caverns.
"Dakota loves adventure. He loves Egypt, he likes exploring, he likes geology," says Michael. "So, we're here at the caves. We're gonna check it out, get a little inspiration for his room. I'm really excited to take care of it."
A cave might be hard to replicate. Anyone remember learning about stalagmites and stalagtites?
"That's not gonna happen," laughs Michael. "It's not so much a cave room, but an exploring room." Michael says he saw a few little treasures in the Fantastic Caverns gift shop that could offer some inspiration as well.
We wish we could've seen more of what inspired Michael, but we were pretty lucky to get a hint on one of the Hampton children's rooms. Fantastic Caverns may be helping inspire Michael, but what's really moving him is the center of the project-- the family.
"It's extremely rewarding, and you feel fantastic," says Michael. "You've done something to brighten their lives and make a difference. We don't change who they are. We build a house; they make it a home, and it's just a blessing. It's the best job in the world."
Michael also said not only does he like how the show helps the family, he says he also likes the way the show can change the entire community because so many people get involved.
